Solve Search in spro shotdump Error in Ctrl+F Find/Search Function - Search
-- spro
-- search
------select “refresh in background”
Note 837404 - Error in Ctrl+F Find/Search Function - Search Index
Summary
Symptom
While doing a Find/Search in the Reference IMG (SPRO), Test Catalogs (STWB_1) or Test Plans (STWB_2) using Ctrl+F, there are three possibilities of error:
1) The program directly gives a Short Dump in SAPLSHI10 -
giving error messages of ABAP runtime errors - LSHI10F01 form
READ_TEXTS_FROM_INDX (or) CONNE_IMPORT_WRONG_COMP_LENG.
2) The search fails, returns - "Selected Text Not Found" even when
the Text is present in the Structure, or
3) It returns multiple hits, some of which do not display any nodes
in the Structure.
Other terms
SPRO, IMG, Test Catalog, Test Plan, STWB_1, STWB_2, SE43, SBACH04, Search function, Ctrl+F, P_STRUCTURE_TEXTS, Short Dump CONNE_IMPORT_WRONG_COMP_LENG.
Reason and Prerequisites
The Search function is based on a Search Index which contains the Texts of all the nodes displayed in a Structure. If the Structure has been modified - involving changes to the Node Texts, removal of a few nodes or addition of new nodes - the changes are not automatically updated in the Search Index.
So, when one performs a Search now, it could result in either of the three symptoms mentioned above.
Solution
Refresh the Search Index using either the 'Refresh' or the 'Refresh in Background' Buttons in the Pop-up. This process may take about 2-3 minutes. Once finished, it gives another pop-up 'Text Index Refreshed'.
Now the Search Function will work correctly.
NOTE ->
For the releases from and above SAP_BASIS 700, there are two Search Indexes - the second one used to further filter the Hit List of the first one.
This second index has been introduced for the SwitchFramework. The
Switch Framework is used to -
a) Activate the Enterprise Extensions, and/or
b) Activate an Industry Solution.
This Index is also used, when a user Navigates from any application screen or transaction to an IMG structure (ex. F4 help, F1 help, "Cutomizing" pushbutton in SM30 or SM34). So, it is important to refresh/re-generate the second Search Index also.
